A word from our Founder and President, Dr. Julie Pena, board-certified dermatologist and outdoor enthusiast
I’m the first to admit it. I enjoy the great outdoors. There’s nothing quite like soaking up the rays on a warm summer day. Unfortunately the sun is the number one cause of prematurely aged skin.
As a dermatologist, I’ve seen the harmful effect of the sun’s rays firsthand and up-close—wrinkling, hyperpigmentation and cancerous growths. Which is why I recommend using sunscreen every day. Easy enough for me to say, but I found that many of my patients weren’t heeding my advice. Some complained that the consistency of sunscreen was too sticky, others simply didn’t want to add another step to their skincare regimen, yet all wanted to minimize the signs of aging.
Armed with this insight, I developed Likewise, a line of daily moisturizers that offer the highest levels of sun protection against cancer yet provide the soothing, smoothing, healthy benefits of potent anti-oxidants and anti-aging ingredients. To keep the regimen as simple as possible, I formulated each product to cater to a specific skin type and added water-resistant properties to ensure protection during outdoor exercise.
I believe that skin is the gateway to our body and a reflection of our overall health. Which is why it’s vital to keep it protected and nourished. My prescription for beautiful, healthy skin? Begin and end every day with Likewise. Apply it first thing in the morning, before and after you exercise outside—whether you hit the beach, the slopes or your favorite hiking trail—and before you go to bed to renew and rejuvenate your skin while you sleep. Simple, right?
